NJ FamilyCare (New Jersey Medicaid & CHIP)
New Jersey's Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program — free or low-cost comprehensive coverage for eligible residents.
About NJ FamilyCare (New Jersey Medicaid & CHIP)
NJ FamilyCare is New Jersey's combined Medicaid and CHIP program, jointly funded by the state and federal governments and administered by the NJ Department of Human Services. It provides comprehensive health coverage to children, parents, pregnant individuals, single adults, seniors, and people with disabilities who meet income and residency requirements.
Most NJ FamilyCare members get their care through one of the state-contracted Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs). You pick an MCO when you enroll, and the MCO has its own provider network, pharmacy benefit, and care management programs.
There is no annual open enrollment for NJ FamilyCare — you can apply any time, and coverage can begin retroactively to the first day of the month you applied if you are eligible.
